Dr. George Cooper, Equitile’s Chief Investment Officer and Founder, leads the firm’s investment process.

He has over 30 years’ experience in finance, holding senior investment and strategy roles at Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and BlueCrest Capital. He founded Equitile to build an independent firm run by investors for investors.

His books outline many of Equitile’s core ideas. The Origin of Financial Crises, published shortly before Lehman’s collapse, explains why markets are inherently unstable, prone to bubbles and distorted by central bank policy. Fixing Economics argues that flawed models of human behaviour undermine economic theory.

George says his hobby is writing about flaws in financial markets while his day job is profiting from them. Before finance, he worked at Fujitsu as a semiconductor engineer making DRAM chips. He holds a BSc in Physics and a PhD in Engineering from Durham University.

Gerald is one of the UK’s leading consultants, writers and speakers on behavioural risk, disruptive change and decision making. With a career in financial markets spanning five decades, Gerald has seen more market cycles and investment manias than most. After working at the Bank for International Settlements and Baring Brothers, he co-founded a successful risk advisory business, working with banks, investment companies and industry.

His book Financial Speculation – Trading Financial Biases and Behaviour looks at the multitude of elements that really drive financial markets, and why they are often misunderstood.

As a key member of Equitile's risk committee he brings a wealth of invaluable financial market experience.
